The International Community should be advised that the government of the Republic of Belarus is in dispute, due to blatant violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) - for which the dictator Alexander Lukashenko is responsible. More than 6,000 people were arrested over four nights of largely peaceful protest that followed Lukashenko's fraudulent elections; countless protestors having been beaten and abused in prison. And as more prisoners are released it has become clear that appalling conditions, abuse and torture have been widespread. Also, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the main opposition candidate of Lukashenko's illegal government, was forced to leave the country after an apparent threat to her children. And Pavel Latushko, a culture minister who is one of the seven members of the presidium of the coordination council, said he had been threatened repeatedly and strongly advised to leave the country. A meeting of the EU's 27 leaders ended with a statement that the bloc did not recognize the results of the elections, saying the election was "e;neither free nor fair"e; and it will punish those responsible for "e;violence, unjustified arrests, and falsification of election results."e;Furthermore, foreign observers have not declared a Belarusian election free and fair since 1995; Mr Lukashenko having established an effective dictatorship since 1994, sustaining his tyrannical grip on Belarus by shamelessly rigging elections. So in essence this is a battle for the soul of Belarus: Good versus evil, liberty versus tyranny and truth versus falsehood. Hence the International Community is advised to keep a safe distance from the so-called Lukashenko Government, until it has implemented a peaceful, democratic transition - so that rule of law, justice, democracy and the UDHR can be restored in the Republic of Belarus. In the meantime domestic policy, foreign policy and human rights issues concerning the Republic of Belarus will be handled by the NGO BTB-Global Peacebuilding. PS: The presence of tens of thousands of Russian troops inside Belarus, which could be used to invade Ukraine, represents a threat to Belarusian independence, the country's exiled opposition leader said. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who the International Community believes was the true winner of the August 2020 presidential elections - that kept the dictator Alexander Lukashenko in power - said that her country now needed to fight for independence as well as against dictatorship.
